This pair of late Baroque/early Rococo period (1670-1730) fire gilded wooden statues is from France. They are an original matched pair that is in very good antique condition considering their age. The gilding is original and is well patinated as shown in the photos. The gilding color and condition is particularly good on the middle and upper parts. The woodwork is solid with minor damage here in there. In particular, several fingers are missing on both statues (see photos). We note no woodworm or dry rot.
Dimensions:
58" tall to the tips of the wings and 47" tall to the tops of the heads.
Condition:
Overall, this piece is in very good antique condition with no woodworm, no dry rot, and no structural issues. It shows minor surface wear consistent with age and historical use, which contributes to its authentic character.
