Description:
As indicated on the installed maker's plaque, this monumental pair of antique Italian buffets was commissioned in 1880 by Count Ernesto Turato, designed by Lodovico Pogliaghi, and constructed by several woodcarvers and cabinetmakers. We would be happy to arrange a viewing and provide additional detailed provenance information upon request.
The matching cabinets rise to more than 15 feet tall. Their elaborate architectural compositions feature deeply carved panels, columns, open galleries, scrolling ornament, and sculptural figural details. Their remarkable scale, matched design, and documented commission distinguish them from ordinary antique buffets. This listing includes both matching pieces.
Like all our antiques, they were thoughtfully sourced in Europe and are currently stored at our Belgian warehouse, ready for direct shipment to the buyer.
Condition:
Both buffets underwent a complete restoration approximately 10 years ago and remain in exceptional restored antique condition.
