This chandelier dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's and was crafted in France. Constructed from wood with wrought iron metal and colored glass elements, it features a striking Gothic design highlighted by four carved dragon or gargoyle heads supporting candle-style light sockets.
The fixture displays exceptional architectural character with carved fleur-de-lis motifs, Gothic tracery, and richly detailed medieval-inspired ornamentation throughout. Suspended from its original chain, the chandelier centers around a carved wooden shaft and includes a decorative lantern-style light below featuring textured amber-colored glass panels.
The dragon-head carvings are particularly impressive, evoking the Gothic Revival aesthetic that was popular in churches, manor houses, and grand European interiors during the late nineteenth century. Condition:
As with all antique lighting, we recommend inspection and replacement of antique electrical components before use. Overall, this piece is in very good antique condition with no woodworm, no dry rot, and no structural issues.
