Description:
This antique oak church altar dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's and was crafted in Europe, likely in France or Belgium. It features a substantial molded cornice, paneled sides, and a symmetrical front divided by four rounded columns with carved foliate capitals. The two outer panels have carved quatrefoil-style floral tracery, while the center panel displays the IHS Christogram in Gothic lettering.
An inset dark stone panel on the top bears five engraved crosses and a small square central recess, details associated with the altar's original liturgical use. A small brass inscription plaque is mounted beneath the center panel. The altar's broad top and architectural form give the piece an impressive ecclesiastical presence.
Like all our antiques, it was thoughtfully sourced in Europe, to be imported to our Oregon warehouse, and carefully finished with antique-grade paste wax to preserve its beauty for years to come.
Condition:
This piece is in very good antique condition, with minor wear, scratches, finish variations, and small age-related separations consistent with age and use. The stone inset has surface wear, and its small central recess is visible in the photographs.

The wheeled dollies shown beneath the altar are used for moving it and are not included.

Large items are carefully blanket-wrapped and delivered by trusted small-business transport companies experienced in handling antiques and fine furniture. This personalized service does not use parcel-style tracking. We arrange transport based on route availability and notify the customer of the scheduled pickup date; the transporter then contacts the customer at least 24 hours before delivery. Transit typically takes 4-8 weeks. Delivery is to one accessible entry point; inside placement, unpacking, and setup are not included unless arranged in advance. We recommend inspecting the item upon arrival. Shipping is included in the list price for delivery within the contiguous United States.
Local pickup is welcome. White-glove or inside delivery may be available if arranged and quoted in advance.
