Description:
This solid oak wood hand carved statue of St. Canisius is from Northern Europe and it dates to the mid/late 1800's, possibly earlier. It is initialed by the artist on the side of the base. Note fine details in the face, robe, fingers and toes. The original hand painted polychrome finish still shows its beautiful original colors (yes, there are minor paint touchups). Overall this statue is in very good antique condition with minor chips, scratches and discolorations as would be expected. We note no significant woodworm or dry rot.
