This beautifully hand carved painted statue of Saint Barbara is from France and it dates to the mid-1800's. It's made from solid oak wood. The paint is original and nicely detailed. There are minor touch-ups of the paint, particularly the gilded parts of her sword and crown. Also, there are minor paint chips and discolorations as would be expected on a 150+ year old piece. Overall this statue is in very good antique condition with minor scratches and chips as would be expected. The wood shows no dry rot or woodworm and only very minor separations along seams.
