Description:
This pair of kneeling angel statues dates to the late-1800's and was crafted in Europe. The carved wood companion figures are posed in reverent adoration, one with hands crossed over the chest and the other with palms joined in prayer. Bowed heads, layered ecclesiastical robes, and long feathered wings give the pair a graceful and balanced presence.
The pale painted surfaces are accented with soft flesh tones, brown hair, and restrained gilt ornament along the vestments and wings. These figures were likely made for placement near an altar or within a devotional setting. Their substantial scale, coordinated poses, and expressive faces make them especially effective when displayed together.
Like all our antiques, they were thoughtfully sourced in Europe, to be imported to our Oregon warehouse, and carefully finished with antique-grade paste wax to preserve their beauty for years to come.
Condition:
The pair is in good antique condition with substantial wear consistent with age and former use. The painted and gilt surfaces show rubbing, discoloration, flaking, and scattered losses; age-related shrinkage cracks and separations are visible throughout, particularly at the robes and bases, with chips and losses along the wing edges and base corners. Both figures remain stable for display and have been inspected with no signs of active woodworm or dry rot. Please review photos carefully to note the various areas of loss.

Shipping:
Large items are carefully blanket-wrapped and delivered by trusted small-business transport companies experienced in handling antiques and fine furniture. This personalized service does not use parcel-style tracking. We arrange transport based on route availability and notify the customer of the scheduled pickup date; the transporter then contacts the customer at least 24 hours before delivery. Transit typically takes 4-8 weeks. Delivery is to one accessible entry point; inside placement, unpacking, and setup are not included unless arranged in advance. We recommend inspecting the item upon arrival. Shipping is included in the list price for delivery within the contiguous United States.
Local Pickup:
Local customers are welcome to visit our Oregon warehouse to inspect items prior to purchase and to arrange pickup. Local pickup includes no shipping or handling charges.
