Antique French Polychrome Wood Saint Augustine Bishop Religious Church Statue

$4,950.00

Description:
This religious statue dates to the mid-1800's and was crafted in France.

Depicted is a bishop saint wearing a mitre and holding a crozier (bishop's staff). In his other hand he presents a flaming heart, a symbol often associated with devotion, charity, or a saint known for a special devotion to the Sacred Heart (Saint Augustine or Saint Valentine). The figure is richly painted in deep red, green, cream, and gilt tones, with expressive facial features and finely detailed ecclesiastical garments.

This impressive church statue would make a striking display piece in a home, chapel, religious collection, or antique interior. The large scale and vibrant original polychrome finish give it exceptional presence and visual impact.

Like all our antiques, it was thoughtfully sourced in Europe, imported to our Oregon warehouse, and carefully finished to preserve its beauty for years to come.
