This religious statue dates to the mid-1800's and was crafted in France. Finely carved from wood, it depicts Saint Gerard Maiella standing in a contemplative pose while holding a crucifix against his chest and a prayer book with rosary beads draped from his hand.
The sculpture displays excellent craftsmanship, particularly in the flowing robes, expressive facial features, and carefully carved devotional elements. The simple yet powerful presentation reflects the deep reverence associated with Saint Gerard, who is often depicted carrying a crucifix and rosary as symbols of prayer and devotion.
Standing at an impressive life-size scale, this statue would make a striking addition to a church, chapel, religious collection, or interior designed with European ecclesiastical antiques. The warm wood tones and visible grain add to its authentic antique character.
Like all our antiques, it was thoughtfully sourced in Europe, imported to our Oregon warehouse, and carefully finished with antique-grade paste wax to preserve its beauty for years to come.

Condition:
Overall, this piece is in very good antique condition with no woodworm, no dry rot, and no structural issues. Reference metal fasteners, other marks, and a section of the cross is missing (see photos). It shows minor surface wear consistent with age and historical use, which contributes to its authentic character.
