Antique Gothic Carved Oak Wood 14' Altar with Polychrome Retable Relief Panels

$40,275.00

Description:
This exceptional antique Gothic church altar dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's and was crafted in Europe, with craftsmanship suggesting Belgian or Northern European workshop origins. Constructed from richly carved oak wood, it features intricate tracery, spired finials, foliate carving, and architectural moldings throughout. The design reflects the Gothic style, showcasing the craftsmanship and decorative sensibility of the period.

The altar includes two polychrome relief panels depicting sacred scenes set against gilt backgrounds, flanking a central Gothic canopy. The base features carved roundels with symbolic motifs, and the original marble altar stone remains in place, engraved with crosses and dated "1901," indicating ecclesiastical consecration use.

Its strong architectural presence and detailed devotional imagery make it ideal for use as a statement piece within a thoughtfully designed interior. Large Gothic church altars of this scale were typically produced for parish installations and are seldom encountered on the market today.

The altar is constructed in traditional modular sections for transport and installation. A composite image is included to illustrate the fully assembled installation; the altar was photographed in its modular sections. Like all our antiques, it was thoughtfully sourced in Europe, imported to our Oregon warehouse, and carefully finished with antique-grade paste wax to preserve its beauty for years to come.

Dimensions:
168" height x 105" width (table top base is 93" wide) x 46" deep
